IBPS PO2 WRITTEN+INTERVIEW Qualified candidates sit on dharna in front of Rahul Gandhi's Home

Qualified candidates of IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) PO/MT-II examination are sitting on a dharna today in front of the Delhi residence of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, asking for their demands to be fulfilled.
“We have come to Mr. Gandhi as a last resort. Earlier, we sat on dharnas at Jantar Mantar, and in front of the IBPS Chairman, but to no avail. We are pinning all our hopes on Mr. Gandhi,” says Dipak, one of the lead protesters.
“We have been sitting here for the last three hours, but we have failed to meet Mr. Gandhi. His PA came to us and said that he wouldn’t be able to meet us today because he is busy. The PA has directed us to go meet NSUI president Rohit Chaudhary. But, we came here to meet Mr. Gandhi.”

IBPS is the autonomous body that conducts examinations for selecting employees for 20 public sector and regional rural banks
The candidates are protesting the move by IBPS to conduct a fresh examination to recruit people, even when the selected candidates of the last examination were told that they would be considered as and when new vacancies came up.
“Our IBPS registration is still valid. It will be valid till 31st March this year. These jobs should rightfully go to us,” says Dipak.
Meanwhile, protesting candidates allege that the police has been trying to intimidate them by threatening them of arrest, and lathi-charge.
“Police personnel were trying to scare us till some time back. Now they have allowed us time till evening to vacate else they have threatened to use other means,” says Dipak.
